If you haven't heard yet there is an awesome idea put forward by Hackontest, to have a competition between different oss projects in adding a feature requested by users. You can go and register your project or request a features from the projects already registered there. q;-)
Freenet is a global peer-to-peer network designed to allow users to publish
and consume information without fear of censorship. To use it, you must
download the Freenet software, available for Windows, Mac, Linux and other
operating systems. Your computer will then form part of a global,
decentralized P2P/F2F network, and you will be able to publish and consume
information anonymously, either through your web browser, or through a
variety of third party applications

I just deleted about 100 photos from an ext3 external hard drive that I really would have preferred to keep. With shift+delete (do not pass the trash, do not collect $200). So I went looking for an answer.
Anyone knows how to store clients data ( e-mail , name etc. ) and send them news using php ? . It's like creating a whole platform just to send them news , and provide them unsubscribe link / update . I bumped into this link http://niemannross.com/nucleus/index.ph … p;blogid=1
and couldn't understand what it really says.
Any help , ? Thanks .
I’ve recently gotten really interested in the Open Design movement (epitomised by GNU/Linux and the Free and Open software movements) and immediately realised its potential in promoting social justice, which is an issue that I’m passionate about.

Just signed up and looking around the site. I'm someone who's quite involved with Indymedia in the UK and especially in Nottingham. I've been using an open source OS for the last couple of years and getting more and more clued up on the ins and outs.. I'm not a super techie, and especially interested in getting the word out to other activists about why they should care and start using free/ open source software and handing them the tools to do so. Anyways, I'll hang out in irc a bit, come and say hello..
i am too happy i ve found a site that takes free software seriously and from the right perspective (the political ). i m tired of the open-source "missionaries" who focus only on technical issues!!! we talk about freedom here!!! anyway i am really eager to contribute as much as i can to the community (although my skills are still low )
